When Bob Mull set out to complete his latest project he wanted a car that would be user friendly, practical and clean. A car that would mix the latest technology with old school workmanship. Bob had a "Vision" and the guys over at Speedway Performance took the Chevrolet Cobalt SS to the next level making the "Vision" a reality.
The body modifications began with adding custom wide fenders, 6 inches wide in the rear and 4 1/2 inches wide in the front. The stock SS front bumper was cut open an extra 1 1/2 inches and filled in with a black mesh grill insert and the rear bumper was cut and molded. A RK Sport vented fiberglass hood was installed along with APR Carbon Fiber mirrors. The stock headlights were taken apart and painted to match the car and then resealed and the rocker panels were filled and smoothed. Rick at Boyce Body Werks in Batavia, Illinois then sprayed the Cobalt with three coats of DuPont Hot Hues Molten Orange Candy paint with a silver base. He then covered it in three coats of clear for a finish as smooth as glass. Meguiars wax was then rubbed on to ensure it stays looking good for years to come. A set of custom made Boyd Coddington Deep Billet wheels were added, size 19x8.5 on the front wrapped in BF Goodrich 265/35/ZR19 G-Force KDW's and 20x10 on the rears wrapped in 225/30/ZR20 G-Force KDW's. Stopping power for the Cobalt is handled by Stainless Steel Brakes Corporation (SSBC) front and rear big brake kit consisting of 12.2 inch rotors and dual piston calipers. Underneath the car is a custom 4 inch drop kit from Universal Air Ride all lit up by Neons, strobes and LED's from StreetGlow. Graphix Zone, Inc. supplied the vinyl graphics.
Interior modifications include a custom dash wrapped in simulated Charcoal Carbon Fiber, housing six Stewart Warner gauges. The carpet is covered in custom Blaupunkt logoed floormats. The Blaupunkt name does not stop at the floormats the complete audio/visual experience installed by Mike Plante is powered by Blaupunkt including:
- Blaupunkt amps with a Stinger plexiglas light-up logo upholstered in simulated carbon fiber on the custom bridge
- Custom housed Blaupunkt DVD player in bridge
- 10 inch Blaupunkt subwoofer cut in dash
- 10 inch Blaupunkt Monitor custom molded into middle of the dash

- Rear deck houses two 6.5 inch Blaupunkt components
- Side panels in the rear house two 10.4 inch Blaupunkt monitors

The entire audio/visual system is also connected to a Xbox. The game system and DVD player can be played on any of the monitors allowing different things to be going on each monitor independently or all of the screens at the same time. All connectivity, accessories, terminals, wiring, fuses, fuseholders, capacitors, road kill sound deadening material, power inverters were provided by Stinger

The center console had all holes filled and is upholstered in black and simulated carbon fiber and the custom door panels have a light up plexiglas SS logo. The headliner is covered in grey ultra suede. All upholstery work was handled by Mike at Creative Auto Tops & Interiors.
In the trunk the lid houses two Blaupunkt 6.5 inch component sets and a 10 inch monitor. The right side panel has been reinforced and houses a navigation system and two mini Nitrous Express bottles. The middle panel houses two Stinger Capacitors. The left panel houses two Stinger high output batteries. The Universal Air compresor and tank are housed under the trunk floor. All panels are covered with simulated carbon fiber.
The business end of the Cobalt began with a 2.0 Liter Ecotec engine installed by Speedway Performance and sealed using Mr. Gasket gaskets. The internals consist of Wiseco pistons, Carrillo Industries high performance connecting rods. To give the "Vision" some bling-bling custom plated and powder coated engine accessories, chrome alternator, chrome engine cradle, chrome radiator bracket, chrome rear axle were installed along with a Magnuson Products chrome plated supercharger. All small parts chroming was done by Permastar Goodrich and all large parts were chromed by Canadian Plating. A high performance header from RK Sport and a Nitrous Express system and hose kit was installed. GM Performance Parts provided a high performance adjustable cam gear set that was fitted to the Crane Cams. An Extrudehone (AFM) processed cylinder head was installed with Super Tech valves made of stainless steel, reshaped and black nitrided which are held in place by super clean chrome silicon vanadium alloy dual valve springs also provided by Super Tech. The super light flywheel from Fidanza is bolted up to a high performance clutch from Clutch Masters. Topping the engine off is a valve cover matching the car color with a Speedway Performance logo and RK Sport Billet caps for oil, brake fluid and radiator. Deep breathing is provided via a K & N Typhoon intake and blown out a Borla high performance exhaust system.
